Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition

  • Automatic transmission
  • 146,000 miles

Frustrating as this happened right after I paid cash for the car.

Explorer Eddie Bauer 4.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 66,870 miles

its come to my attention that ford knew all along about this problem and should have these vehicles recalled and the repair done at their expense. for the price of the Eddie Bauer edition this should not have happened at such a low mileage of 66870 the government should investigate Ford for fraud to the consumer. The cost to repair is outrageous.

Explorer XLT 4.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 118,500 miles

I just recently purchased my 07 Explorer, and upon coasting to a stop, I will sometimes feel the transmission 'Thump'. Sometimes it is so hard that it feels like someone running into your rear bumper!

Explorer XLT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

had no idea this clunking sound when braking was a tranny issue--figured it was a brake problem--took to a mechanic for a brake job and he said, Who said you need brakes? then i noticed explorer would roll backwards when i went from park to drive....i know that 3 of the 4 people that i know with explorers have this same issue....2 are 2006, mine is a 2007....i drove my 1997 explorer to 170,000 miles....my business partner drove his 1998 to 190,000 miles and we never had a tranny issue!! the other day, i was sitting in a parking lot and went from park to drive(with my foot on the brake) and it jumped so hard i thought i had been rear-ended in the parking lot!!!

Explorer XLT V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 68,000 miles

Came to a stop and thought my car was rear-ended. Completely freaked me out. Had felt like the transmission was "slipping" for a few days previous. Dealer acted like he'd never heard the complaint before--and then said it was a "computer problem" that needed to be reset. Comst me $100 of my deductible.
