I purchased this car from a certified Ford Dealorship in April 2019. I love this car, had no problems at all with this car and then suddenly three months in having this car, I was driving it one day (not on the highway - Thank God) and experienced a sudden loss of power. The accelorator went into limp mode. Could not accelerate at all. The engine light came on along with the wrench light with a message that said "See Manual." Luckily I was on a street where I could make a right hand turn out of traffic . I sat for ten minutes . After 10 minutes, I was able to start up the car again, the engine light went off and it drove beautifully like it never happened EXCEPT THAT IT DID!

Fast Forward - 4 days later, I bring it in to the dealership, they inspect the vehicle and the computer data and find that the throttle body was defective and needed to be replaced. It's going to cost me $380.00.

I AM ANGRY ! I find it hard to believe that with all of this common complaint all over the internet - on this sight and others and also a class action lawsuit that they didn't know about this when they sold me the car and also that Ford is not doing anything about this considering the significant number of complaints on this specific issue with this specific model vehicle.

It's not only the money - it's a major safety concern. I am OK. I was not on a busy highway and was able to pull over. But I see that many on here had worse situations with this than what I had.

I would certainly like to be reimbursed for this throttle replacement. But the power going out and loss of acceleration when driving is a major safety issue and I hope that someone doesn't have to die first before Ford will put a recall on this.

This is the second time this has happened with my 2016 Ford Explorer that I purchased in January. They replaced the Throttle Position Sensor after the first incident and it worked normally for about two months. The Explorer will suddenly stop as you are driving as the accelerator loses it's function. The engine will start revving on it's on, sputtering, and other odd things. Once you coast out of traffic and get pulled over, you can turn the engine off and restart it. Don't try to drive it as the problem is reoccurring and you may not be as lucky getting pulled over safely the second time. I called Ford Roadside Assistance this time to have it towed. They said that a tow truck would be there within an hour. After an hour and fifteen minutes, I received an automated call to check if the tow truck had arrived and after replying no, I was transferred to a customer service rep who told me it would be another thirty minutes. They were supposed to tow it to Rockwall Ford which is the local dealership. I just received a call from the tow truck driver that Ford sent wanting to know if I could tell him where Rockwall Ford was located. I used to tell everyone that I love my Explorer and that I'm a huge fan of Ford. This experience is starting to change my opinion.
