Explorer XLT 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission

My 2018 Explorer XLT v6 has a powerful exhaust smell entering through the ventilation system. There are a lot of complaints, this has been an issue since 2011. I've had mine in 3 times now and the field engineers claim they are in aware of the issue which is obviously a huge lie. Just look it up online, its everywhere. Interesting to me is how the NHTSA has done nothing about this.

My parents Explorer does the same and I went and drove two different brand new Explorers and guess what, these do it to. It's not as bad in the ecoboost engines though. I have a pretty good idea what's causing this, which is pretty sad that some aircraft mechanic has a pretty good idea what the issue is and yet FORD hasn't come up with a solution in the past 7 years of making this generation.

I have filed a complaint with Ford Customer Service and they gave me a case number but all they keep having them do is check things cause they claim they've never had this before. The dealership has been wonderful tho and is trying to do what they can to help. I just want FORD to buy back this piece of crap, give me my money I put down and my 2 payments and let me get another vehicle.
