Explorer Sport Trac 4.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 92,000 miles

This is the third required front brake job, complete with new rotors each time, in the last 24,000 miles. The dealership pleads ignorance. The local brake shop noted Ford used the Ranger brake design on the larger Explorer and thus the short life is very common. Their recommendation is to use a slotted or drilled rotor which will expel heat better and not warp the rotor. Couldn't Ford figure this out and not use undersized design !!!!

Based on reading multitudes of other complaints, I think I need to trade in before the tranny goes out.
