Speed control switch on brake master cylinder caught on fire. Damage limited to switch which was unplugged after failure. Subsequently, brake fluid has leaked out of master cylinder at switch plug resulting in corrosion of brake parts including brake master cylinder and brake booster. Brakes are now malfunctioning resulting spongy pedal and left front caliper grabbing abruptly and locking up causing loss of control of vehicle while braking when driving on any roads in any condition. The leaking fluid has caused corrosion and failure of various parts including mounts for electrical connectors and possibly electrical connectors and wiring.

Truck was parked, turned off, and parked in my driveway. Approximately 3:45am I heard glass break and looked out the window to see the inside of the truck on fire. I ran and grabbed 2 fire extinguishers and a water hose; and I put the fire out. The truck is totalled now. Ford asked me to tow it into the nearest Ford dealer (which I paid for) asap so they could inspect it since my truck recall was not yet fixed per Ford's system. The dealership just said it's not Ford's fault even though the fire happened the same way numerous other recall fires occurred. I do not believe them, so I have begun a lawsuit against them if my truck is not replaced by Ford.

On October 30th, 2009 I was traveling on route 113 towards portland, me. After I went by a gas station in brownfield, me I started to pass a vehicle. I pushed the gas pedal and shortly after I understood that I cannot control my car. The gas pedal stuck and brakes were working only for a short while. I got to around 30 mph from 65 mph. The white smoke started to rise from the sides of my track. In a short distance, brakes fail completely and car started to accelerate even more. When I realized the I was coming to the bridge in hiram, me, I decided to crash into something in order to stop the vehicle. Next thing I remembered I was taking out of the car and was going in ambulance to Maine medical center. My husband notified Ford shortly after accident. We file a complaint with Ford, but they didn't respond to it so far.

Reference to recall #05V388000. Approx 7 years ago the harness shorted out. The vehicle was parked and when starting up saw smoke and smelled electrical short. Observe electrical component shortening out of the cruise control wire harness. This caused the cruise control (I.e. horn, speed settings) not to work. I contact Ford who advised there was no recall for this. A year or two later I saw a recall for this exact issue. At that time refused to fix the wire harness and just unplugged the assembly. I contacted NHTSA who advised to try again and if they don't fix file a complaint. I took to Ford dealer again who advised they will not fix even though it was connected to the item that shorted out. Can you please help.

I have a 1995 Ford F150 and was not tagged due to the amount of gas it used and tag was removed and could not be driven on the road. So I could not take to dealer to have recall done due to no tag or insurance. I put new battery in it and drove around my property and parked it and went inside my house. After I heard my neighbor yelling for me. I opened the door and he said my truck was on fire. I went out and the whole front of the truck was on fire. I then put it out and the truck is totaled.

Husband coming home from work brake lights and cruise control would not work. Thought it might be a fuse or something. Got home and parked truck @ 11:00 and by 11:30 truck was in flames. Volunteer fire was called and report done. Truck was pd for of course so we just carried liability on it. Total loss unless Ford and our lawyer can come to an agreement.

1995 Ford F-150 pickup caught fire. The vehicle had not been driven for a full day and a half and the engine was cold. The truck was completely engulfed in flames when we found it about 6:45 pm. Fire caused damage to the house and a Saturn sedan parked next to it in the driveway. My husband collapsed and suffered a fatal heart attack while trying to put out flames. My son in law helped save the house from burning down until the fire department, police and emt's arrived.

Truck burned because of faulty cruise control switch which I was unaware of. I am a car dealer and purchased this truck over a year ago and have had problems with it but was unaware that it was because of this switch. I never received a notice that this was a recall problem. The cruise control no longer worked, the battery would go dead quit often, the ABS light would flash and the fuse in the system would blow and had to be replaced often, it would not shift out of park once the truck was started, the rear brake lamps would not work. We went to various places and asked people about this but no one was able to help us and never told about a recall. My husband and father would work on the truck quit often but we could never get it fixed.

On 9/19/05 I received a recall regarding a problem with the speed control mechanism on my 1995 Ford F150. On 9/20/05 the local dealer (sanders Ford) disconnected the wiring harness to the speed control mechanism. I was told that nothing else on my vehicle would be affected. To my surprise, the "stop gap" procedure performed on my vehicle does not work without rendering the vehicle unsafe to operate, as I discovered later in the day that the horn on my vehicle was not functioning. I returned my vehicle to sanders Ford on 9/21/05 and was basically told that nothing could be done to return my horn to a functional state unless I signed a waiver and assumed responsibility for any damages resulting from the defect identified in the recall. The part to correct the problem is not expected until about late November. In the meantime, and as long as the wiring harness is disconnected, my vehicle is unsafe to operate without a horn. The following was E-mailed to Ford Motor Company on 9/21/05 : "the response to my last E-mail failed to address my real concern (no horn after the wiring harness is disconnected). I cannot safely operate my vehicle without a horn until the fused wiring harness is installed. Nor do I feel I should have to sign a waiver if the wiring to my horn is reconnected, as advised by the dealer. Need resolution." The above information, in no way is intended to criticize or complain about the service rendered by sanders Ford or any of its employees. Quite the contrary, I believe they handled the situation very professionally under the circumstances, especially Mr. Arnold and Mr. Renchen.
