Drove truck to town for groceries, came home parked truck. Within 20 mintues flames were coming from inside behind drivers seat. Fire burned through port hole into bed of truck. Fire department was called. Truck was a total loss. Wondering if curise control could have caused other components to short and start fire or if there are other problems with wiring on this model. This truck was well maintained and was completely stock.

We parked our 2000 Ford F-150 truck in our driveway on Monday at 5:30 in the afternoon, and at 7:00 the next morning(13 hours later) it burned to the ground. Our neighbor was leaving for work and heard the tires explode, saw it was on fire and called the fire dept.. he also took pictures. I have called everyone, emailed, lawyers, T.V., consumer agencies and of course Ford motor repeatedly. Because I had no insurance, there has been no interest. I still have the truck melted to my driveway. There was only 50,000 miles on it and we purchased it new. We have borrowed a vehicle and rented cars to get to work. We own our own business, and it has been a difficult time, especially since we cannot afford to purchase another car, nor should we have to as the average consumer does not expect their vehicle to go up in flames while they sleep. I have contacted Ford numerous times, and have had to repeat the same story over and over. And of course, they just sent a letter telling me to contact the insurance co. Please help us to retrieve a vehicle. Tell me, what does Ford do with the recall when it concerns a melted burned up truck? I still have it melted to my driveway. I refused to have it removed in the hopes that justice would prevail, and it is our evidence. Thank you for your time. My name is[xxx], my phone numbers are [xxx] and [xxx]. thank you. 1) 2000 F 150 parked in closed garage and the vehicle was locked for at least 10 hours. Just as I was going to bed, heard a loud boom, went outside to see, came back in noticed smoke coming from the side door of garage that leads into the house. I opened side entry door to garage, saw flames shooting out ot the front of the engine of the F150. Home is uninhabitable in its current state, truck is totally destroyed, burned to the ground. Nothing can be done to repair the vehicle, it is a total loss. Nationwide, vehicle safety is a concern for consumers. I am aware through my community involvement and political background that this Agency is the only one that can help me with a problem a dangerous as this, of engine fires in the F-150 and appears that it may not be limited to the F 150's.

Recently my cruise control quit working on my 2000, F150, Ford truck, (within the last month) and today my wife drove my truck home, parked it in our driveway, went into the house and within approximately an hour and a half the truck engine compartment burst into flames and burnt up the truck, nearly catching fire to the house. The truck was not running at the time. The fire department came out and put out the fire, but the truck was a complete loss. The fire chief said that it appeared to be an electrical fire that originated on the passenger side of the engine. The insurance company, alfa, has been contacted and we will notify them of the information we've gotten from the internet about numerous fires with this model truck.
