This whistle or Ringing (as I hear it) started the 2nd winter about 14,000 miles. This noise gets so loud at times I can't even drown it out with the radio and you never know when it will start or end. I been told of several possible solutions, stress "possible" given no guarantees. They're from install a complete K&N air filter system, New engine intake assembly to replacing the alternator. Had to do the latter, no change.

Made several attempts to Ford for a solution to this noise. To them it is a non-issue.

Ford works hard to get your $$ and gain your loyalty. Unfortunately, it seems once they have it it all stops there too!

when cold, 40 deg or less, engine makes a whistling sound. the colder it gets the less rpms it takes to get it to whistle. read on a couple of truck forums that replacing the alternator mitigates this problem, havent tried it but it is very irritating since northern wi is 40 deg 6 mo of the year. contacted dealer, they had no idea what to. called ford in detroit, they didnt have an answer, i asked if you people actually do real world testing on these trucks............ they didnt have an answer, what a joke, stupid engineers.

I thought i was getting a good deal. But the joke is on me my truck was problematic from day one. I went for a test drive before buying the truck and it whistle at 90 and 100 kmh.I told the salesman and he told me if you install a k&n air filter it will stop the problem.Ok i figured i"ll put one in and then the differential went and the exhaust manifold started too leak and then of all things the tranny blew on me in the middle of my holidays. Now that is something i don't wish upon anybody that really sucked. I installed the K&N air filter system and guess what it did"nt do anything but give me more power. The Damm truck still whistles. I got shafted and burned at the same time I should go and ask him for a kiss because i like to get a kiss after i get @#$!^%$. that is all i have to say about that thanks for reading and beware of the salesman.
