I have had two window regulators fail and the windows come crashing down unexpected while driving at high speed in Ford F150 and not touching the window controls. The windows will not go back up and have had to be fixed. I live in northern climate with bad weather and the conditions are dangerous to drive in with a window down and children in the back seat.

Power windows devices & controls - window regulator failure my wife and I drove my 2005 Ford F150 to pick up my son up from kindergarten and while driving home, going approximately 25 mph during a severe Florida thunder storm we heard a loud pop, then crackle which sounded like it came from the drivers side of the truck. I pulled over in the storm to see if anything struck the door. Since I saw nothing I pulled back onto the road and continued to drive home, then all of a sudden the front drivers side window abruptly flew down into the door and disappeared. My 5 year old son who was sitting directly behind me on the driver's side in his car seat, was terrified, crying and wet from rain flying in the window, we were 5 minutes from home and pulled into the garage. My son and I were soaked and all three of us were shaken. I have recently found out the issue was caused by a window regulator failure. This could have caused an accident and is highly dangerous, especially with a small child in the car. When researching the issue further I found that there are numerous complaints from consumers, however Ford has not responded, nor addressed this extremely hazardous issue. Currently my window is taped with a bag to cover the window hole as we don't have the funds to fix this issue since both wife and I were laid off recently. This issue is not just about the cost it's a safety concern that needs to be reviewed. Is it a faulty part on the manufacturer's side, is it a Ford engineering problem" what does it take for a recall" do individuals need to be hurt or worse die in order for a recall. Shame on Ford for letting an issue like this receive multiple consumer complaints with no action or resolution. This is not normal wear and tear.

Rear passenger side window regulator broke. I rarely if ever have passengers ride in my truck and even less so in the rear, so the window rarely ever gets used. My truck is not driven and has been sitting for 4 months in my driveway. I came home one day to my rear passenger window down inside the door. The window regulator broke while just sitting in my driveway not being used or tampered with. I also keep a windshield sunscreen inside the windshield to keep heat down.

I was driving home from work at 0530 when driver window suddenly dropped. It was the window regulator that broke. That wasn't the only incident all window regulators broke within a year after that and just recently the driver window broke again. So that a total of 5 window regulator that broke in my truck. A definite manufacturer defect.

The contact owns a 2005 Ford F-150. The consumer stated the driver's side window fell into the door, then the front passenger side window fell into the door a few months later. The dealer replaced the regulator assembly on the front driver's side window at no charge because it was still under warranty. The front passenger window was not covered because the warranty had just run out. The driver's side rear window glass fell inside the door in 2010. The back window quit working just after the warranty ran out. We never got it repaired. Each repair cost us over $300.

My driver's side window on my 2005 Ford F-150 won't roll up anymore. While doing research for parts I noticed that this is a very common problem with this particular vehicle. The part that is used is defective and should be recalled. It is unsafe for my babies and myself to have to constantly have the window down. The cost to fix the problem is around $500-$900 dollars. I am afraid that in the event of an accident I or my children could be seriously injured without the window in place. Ford needs to take responsibility and correct a defect.

My complaint is in regards to the window regulators of my 2005 Ford F150 supercrew 4X4. I have now had the front driver and rear right regulators fail due to no fault of my own. The rear right failure occurred last fall (August 2009) while going through a car wash with my family in the vehicle. Without any warning, my daughter started screaming as her window fell inside the door. Thankfully, there were no injuries, but I did have wet children and wet interior. Of course, the carwash denied any wrongdoing and suggested I contact Ford. In doing so, Ford stated that NHTSA did not issue a recall, so they were not required to fix/repair at their own cost. Not having the funds available, I tore the door panel open, slid the window back up in the track, and wedged a piece of pvc pipe to keep the glass in place. Not a great solution...but much better than what Ford offered to do. The most recent incident occurred Saturday, July 11, 2010, mid-afternoon. My family and I were traveling to a community function. While driving, I heard what sounded like a shotgun go off next to my ear. Our initial thought was we hit something on the road or an animal ran into us. I stopped and got out of the truck, but did not see any damage. At that point I didn't know what to think. We continued on to our function without any further issues. When we arrived back at the vehicle later in the afternoon, I started to roll down the windows while the A/C coiled off and thud...the front driver window fell down. I knew exactly what happened. Tore into the door when we got home and found that the window regulator pulley failed in this window also. So, I pushed the glass back up and wedged another piece of pvc pipe. Aside from the ringing in my ear the remainder of the afternoon from the "gunshot", there were no injuries. From my research on the internet, this appears to be a very common problem that Ford refuses to address. I would appreciate your help and research in this matter.
