This is an update to my post of 8/14/19, concerning frame rust on my 2007 F150. The truck has now been inspected by a competent body shop with the box taken off. There is more rust on the frame than on the titanic, no hope of fixing it. So far Ford doesn't want to know anything. Someone is going to be killed if this isn't addressed. There are a lot of these trucks out there with a seriously unexpected level of rust. Looking for options!!

I went to have my brakes replaced on my F-150 with 54,000 miles on the odometer and the mechanic told me the frame was completely rusted out and that he was able to put a screwdriver through it. He didn't want to install the brakes. I have owned this truck since new and it has (mostly) been garaged throughout. The body panels, interior, transmission, engine, etc. Are in excellent shape. It appears to be the same problem reported by many others, so I'm not sure why there hasn't been a Ford recall on this dangerous situation. It's obviously been going on for some time, but I never looked under the truck to see the extent of the rust, given that the body was in great shape (no rust).

Takata recall inflators have been removed. Instrument panel displays tire inflation warning always. The main safety issue I see with this vehicle is the brake and accelerator pedals are to close to each other and are not adjustable. The issue comes about when depressing brake to shift from park to drive or reverse. I am aware of this and it still happens sometimes. Sometimes the motor revs but vehicle will stay stationary. Sometimes there's more pressure on accelerator than brake pedal and the vehicle will lurch forward or backward. This being an XL model, its not equipped with adjustable pedals which may solve problem but am uncertain of that. It seems to be ideal vehicle except for these to issues.

While driving at 35mph or less the driver side front hub assembly may emit an intermitent grinding noise as if the hub is trying to lock into four wheel drive. Grinding noise stops when vehicle is slowed to 15mph or less. Sometimes full stop is needed to cease grinding noise. When noise stop a jerk can be felt as if the hub locks back into its place. Took vehicle to Ford dealership and they recommended bringing vehicle in when grinding noise was present. That is not possible because the noise will stop when I slow down. Dealership could not recommend any way to diagnose it without paying to have it inspected. Problem has not been diagnosed and manufacturer has not been notified. Vehicle was bought 3 years ago at 43K miles and has approx. 80K current miles. Noise is intermittent with occaisional long periods between occurences. Can happen within 5 miles of driving or after 500 miles of driving.

The failures stem from bad oil flow to the top end of the engine due to a flaw in design. Specifically my camshaft, cam phaser, timing components and lifters rollers have failed. The problem first showed up at 42256 miles and has since resurfaced twice even after expensive repairs. The worrisome part is that the web is filled with thousands upon thousands of similar complaints about this engine which is also in Expedition and crown victorias and probably other Ford vehicles.

Blowout of tire with 20,000 miles on vehicle and tire. Started researching why a perfectly good tire would blow out and found an ongoing investigation concerning faulty valve stems. I had all my valve stems checked when getting the new tire installed and found a faulty valve stem on another tire. I spoke with 3 different people at Ford who all said they were unaware of any faulty valve stems. I had to purchase a new tire and valve stems to correct the problem.

I own a 2007 Ford F150 truck. On three occasions the truck accelerated when braking to a stop. The first incident happened to my wife and the second to me. We each thought that it was a fluke. The third occurrence resulted in an accident. My wife was driving and when she applied the brake to stop at a stop sign the engine surged and she was unable to stop the truck. She struck another vehicle already stopped at the stop sign. She was very upset. She was cited for not stopping with assured clear distance. We had the truck towed to the dealer where I bought it. The service people said they could not replicate the problem and gave us back the truck. We took it to an independent garage for evaluation. Still nothing was found. The truck is clearly a safety problem.
