2008 F150 ---44,460 miles -- that's less than 9th miles a year...EEC ( Main) computer shut off as I was driving down the highway at 70miles an hour. Zero warning -- just shut off-- lucky no one was hurt. Had truck towed to shop near house. Shocked at the cost --but hey things happen --car repair never cheap. Then it got interesting --- part number 7L3a12a650gtc ( the eec) is no longer made by FORD ???? Really -- on a truck that is less than 6 years old they stop making the main computer?

I called MY FORD dealer ( 2 new 1 used truck over a span of 10 years) and was told there were Zero available -- not just at FORD but any where. The shop finally found one in Canada. I am at a loss for words at the disappointment I have toward I can't get mad at parts manager -- not his fault. I was told by someone at MY FORD dealer and I quote " In FORDS infinite wisdom they deemed it cost efficient to stop making this part"-- I can see a bumper cover--but the main computer on the BEST selling truck in TEXAS...Really. Lesson learned, The tundra or the Ram may cost me more at first --but in the long run...well, who knows....but I think I will find out in a year when the warranty on the EEC expires. 28 years behind the wheel of a FORD....now I feel like I'm under it!
