It died on me just as I pulled into my parking spot right after an oil change. Still in Drive. Called and they towed it to dealer free of charge, checked it out, and said good to go. A few weeks later it died once. A couple months after it died FIVE TIMES! I replaced the mass airflow sensor, still died but was slightly better. hmmm. Took apart intake and the THROTTLE BODY was dirty! Broke the plastic snap lock as it gets brittle, so fair warning on that. Took off the throttle body and cleaned with cleaner for about half an hour. Put back in and it purrs. Perfect.

I attribute this to 1. 110K miles 2. recent aftermarket oiled air intake.

Went back to stock FORD air filter and it runs perfectly. A little less torque than the aftermarket air filter but it actually runs....lol. Some things are meant to be stock I guess.

Fix was $5 for cleaner, $14 for air filter (lasts 10k miles) but I spent on the mass airflow sensor needlessly so do that after this as it might be unnecessary

Around 94,000 miles my engine light came on. I took it to my local and very trust worthy mechanic and the code for the cams came up. He said that these engines are notorious for cams going bad and I needed to try and sell or trade soon before I get any major issues. I was way too upside down in the thing to do either.

I purchased an extended Ford warranty in June 2017 and in January 2018 engine light came on again while I was driving early in the morning and after about an hour turned off. I called my Ford dealer and told them about it and was told they couldn't help me out unless the light was on when I brought it in. Well this happened 3-4 more times until I stopped calling Ford.

May 5 2018 my truck, with no warning, didn't sound right or drive right and warning lights on dash about low oil pressure. I was 900 miles outside of my extended warranty but feel that Ford could've done something way earlier when the light came on. I need a new motor and was told that it's got all the updated parts on it...which is why I wonder WHERE THE HELL IS THE RECALL ON THIS MOTOR!!!!!! to fix the issue.

The tow truck driver said that these year Fords keep him in business b/c of the motor going bad and way to low mileage to have this kind of problem. Ford where is the recall?

Day one of 1300 mile trip from Iowa to South Padre, Tx. Going 80 in traffic on I-35 in Tx when truck all but quit, went into "limp mode". Able to pull off to the side without killing myself or anyone else. Engine light on and no power. Spent 1/2 hr trying to get hooked up with a tow truck and was told it would be another hour. Tried to start vehicle and it ran fine.

Drove into Gainesville, spent night and into dealer next morning. They found a throttle body code but it was working and no engine light on. Couldn't get a throttle body until sometime the next day I gambled and took off, have put 1000 miles on since with no problems, but now, instead of being confident and proud of my new truck (5 years ago) I'm worried every time I take off.

Web searches turn up countless stories of throttle body problems on Fords, even being replaced and the problem reoccurs. I have another road trip planned for the first of June and it's for an event that only occurs twice a year. I don't have full confidence in my Ford truck. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!

engine stalled/died while driving

Ford really has a faulty problem here the melting is really bad as to cause fire etc. when this happens it leaves the truck without power for steering or brakes. Also can leave you stranded in worst place in any weather or light of day. Need to make a Recall for Relocation of Fuse for Fuel pump. Soon.

Parked car came back 1hr later car unlocked no dash lights at all and car would not start. Heard relay clicking and air co came on. Eventually after about 15 minutes it started but no dash lights. Drove car, then message shift to park came on all power lost and car totally dead no electrics at all including hazard lights. Waited about another 30 minutes same issue, tried to start relay clicking nothing happened. Then suddenly dash lights came on and car started and drove as normal. Car lights stayed on when the car was having the issue so big chance the battery would die if not noticed. Very dangerous situation as when the car died brakes would not work and no way to use hazard lights to indicate we were broken down.

Fuse #27 to fuel pump BURNT in fuse box!.. When you purchase a Ford F150 only 11 months ago and it only has 39,000 miles,(of course just right out of warranty) you expect it to be dependable and you should feel safe driving it. But when it just stops running and won't start you wonder why you ever got rid of your old dependable Chevy Silverado Z71. The worst part of this is that there is a service bulletin about this problem but the dealers will not fix the defect for free. It seems it may even be a fire hazard! The Fuse was burnt and melted. I called the dealer and they said they never heard of the problem. But it took me just 2 minutes to find the Technical Service Bulletin online. Why should I pay $200-400 to fix a defect in the manufacturing of this vehicle. This should be covered no matter how many miles are on the vehicle. Its a fire HAZARD and SAFETY issue. Truck will just kill no matter how fast you are going it just dies!!!

Truck shut completely off while driving at 65mph down the road. Very hazardous seeing that we could have been plowed by a semi. A friends diagnostic reader said "fuel pump." Got it towed to the nearest ford dealership, (at least that was covered under warranty) and they stated it was not in fact the fuel pump, but the fuse for the fuel pump. When ford made this truck for that year, apparently the location of the fuse for the fuel pump was in a location that caused the whole fuse box to melt! Ford made a kit to relocate the fuse box, but has not created a recall. So out comes $300 out of my pocket to fix it, when ford knows its a problem!
