F-250 Lariat 6.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 14,000 miles

Uncommanded tailgate opening. Tail gate opens and drops all by itself. This happens sporadically but persistently. Ford dealer has been unable to fix, after repeated service visits including involvement of Ford factory technicians. Uncommanded opening most frequently occurs when shifting to reverse, releasing parking brake and/of shifting into drive. This is extremely dangerous as you don't know when tailgate is open. Ford has a serious problem with this and factory seems completely dismissive of the issue.

TAILGATES OPEN WITHOUT WARNING. ONCE I WAS PULLING A TRAILER WHEN TAILGATE OPENED. IT FELL ON TRAILER JACK AND DAMAGED THE TAILGATE. THE SECOND TIME IT OPENED I WENT INTO THE STORE CAME OUT TAILGATE WAS OPEN THERE WAS NO ACCIDENTAL BUTTON PUSH BECAUSE THE KEY FOB WAS IN THE TRUCK.

Buying a vehicle at this price point you do not expect to have problems like this happening. Not getting any answers from Ford. I've had the wiring connectors replaced already and it hasn't solved the problem. Getting to be a royal pain in the ass not knowing if your tailgate is going to fall open and maybe hit a vehicle behind you.
