Fiesta SEL 1.6L

  • Manual transmission
  • 38,000 miles

I have had this problem for about 2 years but finally Googled it and saw there is a problem with these cars. Disappointing from Ford. I like the car but Ford has let the ball drop on this one. There should have been a recall on this. The steering system is not something you want to go bad in 2-3 yr's. Very disappointing .

VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH FORD OVERALL FOR SELLING ME A CAR THAT IS NOT BUILT TO LAST. TOOK THIS CAR INTO THE FORD DEALER FOR VEHICLE INSPECTION AND OIL CHANGE (AUG 27, 2015) SPECIFICALLY TOLD THE SERVICE WRITER THERE WAS A CLUNKING IN THE FRONT END. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. UPON DRIVING THE CAR OFF THE LOT THE CLUNKING RETURNED. I WILL NEED TO RE-SCHEDULE TO GET ANOTHER DIAGNOSIS.

HAVE ALREADY HAD THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT REPLACED. IT HAPPENED WHEN ON VACATION (2014) AND I HAD TO GET A HOTEL ROOM FOR 2 NIGHTS AT MY OWN EXPENSE IN ORDER FOR FORD TO DO THE REPAIR WORK. LUCKY FOR ME THE AIR CONDITIONING PUMP STARTED FREEZING-UP JUST BEFORE THE WARRANTY WENT OUT.

UNFORTUNATELY THE REPAIR ON THIS CLUNKING IN THE FRONT END WILL PROBABLY BE AT MY OWN EXPENSE SINCE MY WARRANTY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

FORD SHOULD PICK-UP THE TAB ON THIS ONE SINCE IT IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECTIVE PART.

Fiesta SEL 1.6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 46,800 miles

I have only had this vehicle since April of this year. I'm so fed up and feel like the dealership took me for a ride.

Within about a week having purchased it, I started hearing all this loud clunking noise in the steering. At first I started thinking that it was a rack & pinion problem. I'm not still sure that it isn't. It might be within the steering column itself. Very frustrated, ready to put dynamite under it, LOL. That would be enough, but the car has had other issues I will later cover. Ford has lots to make restitution for!

Update from Aug 27, 2015: Finally tracked down that nasty clunking noise when turning the wheel. I sure hope this fixes the problem for others.

2 different dealerships did not resolve the issue; instead, indicated that "it was normal end play". Clunking sound is most noticeable while pulling in or out of a parking space with car at low speeds and attempts to make turns. Very distinct clunking sound like power steering issues and vary also give repeated vibration/clunking of steering wheel.
