I've parked my cars in the same spot for over 20 years. I have never had a problem with the drain lines plugging due to tree leaves. I beleive there is something wrong with the design of the Flex cowl vent or drain lines. However, reading here the problem may be from the factory.

My Flex is only 6 months old.
