Flex SEL V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 109,469 miles

A few days after having an oil change at the Ford dealership, I noticed my car starting to surge. I looked at the RPM gauge and noticed whether I was at a stop sign with my car on the brake or stopped with it in park it was raising an lowering the RPM between 1.5 down to .5 and back and forth. I also tried to put in in neutral and it still did the same thing. Just after another day it has gotten much worse and am worried I am going to have major problems. I did a system check with the buttons on the dash that is provided to see if it might me a battery or charging system problem and it stated everything was perfect. I will be taking it to Ford to have it checked but wanted to have this documented for others. Will post the results here later.

Flex 3.5L V6 Ecoboost

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,400 miles

Engine runs rough, even at idle. Ford says diagnosis shows loss of compression in #4 cylinder. Ford dealer says it needs a Long Block, since Short Block is not available on this engine.

Flex Limited AWD 3.5L Ecoboost

  • Automatic transmission
  • 37,500 miles

This car performed wonderfully for the first 7,500 miles BUT on a cold morning it had a MAJOR backfire and the car NEVER ran right for the next 30,000 miles. I was forced to put up with it. I filed three formal complaints with FORD Customer Service and it was in five different Ford Dealerships in two states but never fixed. Four of these dealerships said "no code, no problem" and washed their hands of me and my car. Neither of these four dealerships even test drove the car with me or rode with me. The fifth dealership, Autonation Ford of Frisco, TX sincerely tried to fix the car and the service manager rode and drove the car, only to proclaim that "this car is f*d up!" They replaced three of the thirty something sensors in the Ecoboost management system AND they rebuilt the transmission saying "the valve body had significant wear".

The car definitely felt different upon departure but the next day on the drive back to Tennessee through heavy rain, the car coughed and spluttered for 700 miles and would barely maintain speed.

FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER SERVICE NEVER DID ANY FOLLOWUP TO THE COMPLAINTS AND NEVER TOOK OWNERSHIP OF THE SERVICE PROBLEMS.

My final action was to wholesale this car at a substantial loss, and then bought a new car - of course it was not a Ford!
