Was driving this piece of crap, when all the sudden the power steering started making a noise. I've known multiple cars that do this, so I thought nothing of it. Do I regret that. The noise slowly got louder. I just thought that it was running out of fluid. Little did i know that the fluid was spewing out the electrical plug for the pressure switch on the pump. Between the fluid in an electrical area and spewing all over the cat, my car caught on fire and I instantly pulled over, turned it off and jumped out. No damage was caused by the fire and it went out pretty quickly. But, now I have a dead focus in the driveway. I've had so many problems with this car its going away. Right now. No more Focus for me.

Started smelling smoke inside car. opened hood and saw smoke coming from front left side of engine compartment. found leak in power steering hose and later found play in shaft to power steering pump. had both replaced and have had all i can take of this junk. i will trade this car in for a different make and take the loss on what i owe. this junk has cost me probably over $3,000 in parts and repairs in a little over 2 years and i have only put 35000 miles out of the 75000 thats on the car. that sucks and so does ford.

The high pressure power steering metal hose is routed just over the exhaust manifold. After 5 years owning the car, cold hot and bad weather, a leak just appear this week and oil accumulation on the exhaust manifold started to burn while parking the car.

Fortunately, Fire did not propagate.

This hose shall not be routed so close of a high heat source. I consider this as a conception problem and because of risk of fire, shall be object of a recall.
