Had a squeak and rattle under my car since I bought it. Every time I took it to ford they told me that there was too much mud under my car which was throwing it off balance - so they washed it. Took it in twice. $2000 spent on suspension repairs both times. Noise did NOT go away. $4000 down and pretty pissed off I drove it like that for another year. Then took my car into an independent mechanic to get brakes done and mentioned the squeak problem to the owner. Asked if he had any ideas. Turns out, it is a known problem that Ford has even issued an advisory about. The emergency brake cable is too close to the frame of the car and it rubs. It was verified to be the problem with my car by signs of wear. The mechanic inserted a spacer to prevent the rubbing - which is the Ford recommended fix. The part was so cheap he didn't even charge me for it since I was already doing my brakes. Hasn't been a problem since. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT FORDS OWN PEOPLE DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THEIR OWN ADVISORY. Idiots!
