I was out shopping with my husband and two kids and decided to run into the last store solo since the baby was asleep. I was gone for 5 minutes-TOPS. While I was gone my husband decided to put his key in the ignition so he could put the windows down. When I came back and tried to start the vehicle the car wouldn't start. It made all these weird clicking sound an the lights kept flashing. I looked in the manual and realized the anti theft system was activated. By what? Putting the window own? I followed he pro recurs in the manual to deactivate it and it didn't work. It kept doing the bizarro flashing and clicking for almost 45 min while I attempted to contact the dealership. They told me he only thing I could do was bring it to them to enter some kind of magical secret code. ??? It would have cost me a hundred dollars just to tow it! Then in the meantime the battery died from all the light flashing and horn chirping and clicking. I called AAA to get at least a few free miles of towing and had resigned to the idea that the car would have to sit outside the gates of the dealership all weekend because they were by then closed. Then the AAA guy came and treated me like every other man on earth treats women when it comes to cars: like I am a complete dumbass. "duh, lady, the battery's dead that's why it won't start." He jumped the car and it started right up but took quite some time to charge. He advised my husband to get a new battery because after all I-being a woman-might not understand. We got. New battery. Even though I had it tested and it was fine, I had it replaced just to make the men happy. Guess what? A month later it did the same thing again! The second time i just turned the lights on and purposely drained the battery bc that seems to be the only way to get the little spasm over with. The folks at the Ford dealership act like I'm crazy, and I refuse to pay them $100/hr so
that they can mock me after they find nothing. My husband and I just don't dare turn the
car off and on rapidly, or use the accessory position at all. This seems to be the trigger. We will be trading in the car soon. Ford should just get rid of this crappy 1990's technology. It does nothing more than annoy the owners of the vehicle.
