Focus SE 1.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

2010 Ford focus had since February the dealership where we bought it hooked up a new wiring harness to the throttle body and then suck the wires inside the fan......... sometimes people are just dumb. Anyway got that problem fix the car will randomly stall after being driven around for a while I did buy a cylinder head temperature sensor I'm going to replace because I saw that suggested I will let you know if it fixes the problem there is no part of me that wants to replace the throttle body though I also have seen a video where he cleaned out the butterfly of the throttle body and that solved his problem it would not surprise me if the butterfly and US1 has gunk in it also bought a new air filter because the old one was pretty tatteredif you had this problem and have suggestions I'm all ears without spending thousands of dollars to fix it.

Coming from PBI airport and on the way home the car just quit like you turned off the key. Coasted to the side of the road and tried to restart. Nothing. Maybe hit once then nothing. Waited on the side of the road for about 1/2 hr still no start. Called AAA and had car towed to my mechanic. He looked at car the next day and it started right up. He did not charge anything as he could not find anything wrong with it. No codes etc. He drove car around town and it ran fine. This was a while ago and I am not comfortable driving car anywhere but the problem has never reoccurred. It is my mother's (89 yrs old) car and she does not drive anymore but I use it to transport her to Dr's etc and my sister uses it when she visits but I am always leery of it. Very low mileage but kept up and in garage always. The only other problem is the tire pressure monitor seems to be always on even after filling and resetting the pressure.

My husband was driving on the expressway when suddenly he lost power to the engine. He had to hurry up and get off the road and his speed was quickly decreasing. He gets it to the shop and finds out the throttle body is shot. Come to find out the Ford Focus is not under the recall. When this is a common Ford problem!!

This car has been serviced by Ford the entire time I have owned it. I am the only owner and it has begun to stall on me. When it stalls all the lights on my dash turn on but no code appears. Has anyone figured out what to do about this problem???

Focus SEL 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 68,000 miles

The car would randomly stop running! It would restart but you never would know when it was going to stop running next. FINALLY the check engine light came on and it gave us a code that the throttle position sensor was bad. After reading posts on the internet I decided to replace the intire throttle body and not just the sensor.

The freeway engine kills were annoying and Dangerous but the ones on crowded street with noplace to put off were the worst.
