On December 9, 2023 I left my house for the grocery store early on a Saturday morning, the power steering was working fine. After doing my groceries and after putting my bags in the trunk, I then proceeded on my way home but on startup a red Power Steering Failure warning came up on the dashboard of my 2017 Ford Focus Electric, I no longer had any power steering. About two years before that, the same warning message had occurred but had gone later in the day, I figured this was due to the - 40 C temperature outside, but last December, this Power Steering Failure warning became permanent so I called my dealer.

I was told it would cost 4000 CAD$ to replace the rack and pinion which is part of the power steering system, I then told my dealer there is NO WAY I was going to pay 4000 CAD$ for a brand new part since my Focus is more than six years old so my dealer proposed getting a used part from the US that has 106000 miles on it. This way it would only cost me around 1500 CAD$ to repair my power steering. I do not understand why Ford won't pay the repair cost as my car only has around 10,000 KM or 6000 miles on it all because it is over 6 years old and the warranty was good for only one year or 100,000 Km. Definitely my last FORD.
