problem #2

Oct 222020

Focus S 2.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 55,660 miles

After running errands and stopping and starting, the car would not start. Would not turn over at all. After cranking, it would make clunking noises from under the hood for about 30 seconds.

Before that it was chugging while driving, as if it was a manual transmission with a crappy driver.

Focus SEL 2.0L T/Vct Odi I-4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25,000 miles

I bought this car new in Sept 2017. Starting at about 25000 I noticed a increase in the noise of the transmission shifting. When I go from 1st to 2nd it growls. Advised Ford and asked them to check it out. The day I was giving to bring it in did not allow for time for test drive by mechanic. So they decided to adjust the TCM and P-something or other and re-sync via the computer.

Since then it has gotten worse and I had asked the service advisor to please schedule me time for a look at by the mechanic. He advised that they are at least 2 weeks out. I said that was fine just need to get it checked. He then promptly ignored the request and never scheduled me. I then called back and again advised that I need the transmission looked at and please schedule me. Again told 2 weeks out but gal whom took the call did schedule me for an appointment Appt is May 29, 2018. Noises and different experience now happening with the transmission. .It sounds like it is going to break apart completely.

Update from May 19, 2018: I am now at 45000 miles and the signs of transmission issues are increasing. This complaint is about the fact now the transmission appears to be slipping (like a manual transmission when the clutch is going out). It now not only growls when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear but now we have shuddering/hesitation between gears.

Update from May 19, 2018: Now at 45000 transmission is extremely noisy. Not only growls when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, not only shudders/hesitation between gears but now when downshifting or putting in reverse the transmission growls, slips, and sounds like the clutch is going out except this is an automatic. The noises are getting louder and duration is longer. Need help.
