I bought my Focus with 37 miles on it in 2018. Everything was fine and dandy until I hit about 45,000 miles. All of a sudden when I put the car in park after driving for about an hour to hour and a half this issue comes about. I drive over an hour one way to work (5 days a week), so as you can imagine I'm seeing this a lot. BUT of course, the dealership is only a few miles away so they never see it happening. There are no codes on the computer, and they've checked twice now, they did "an update on the computer" for my transmission (?) or something. NOTHING is actually fixing the issue. The dealership wrote into Ford but I haven't heard back from anyone in almost a week. A car that revs 2000-3000 RPMS in PARK is not what I need or feel comfortable in.

When I put this car in park after a long trip 1.5 hours, the RPMs race up to 2000 and beyond! The only way to stop it is to shut the car off with the key. Then when I restart the car, the RPM's go to 1500 then gradually back down to normal around 900. This just started about 2 months or so ago. No engine codes show up, so when I brought back to dealership they said they could not duplicate the problem, and everything looks OK, and that the car is performing as designed. It appears to be getting worse now that the outside air temp is warming up.
