Freestyle LX V6

fuel shut off switch runs under passenger side carpet. wire is too short so every time the passenger steps down hard the switch comes unplugged killing the fuel pump. plug it back in and you are good to go!

Freestyle SE 3.0L V6

  • CVT transmission

I was 1 1/2 Hours from home...going up a hill with the cruise on, when suddenly the car engine just shut off. Was fortunate to get it to the side of the road. However when I tried to restart it was as if I had no engine ...because all though the lights came on...there was nothing trying to start. Ford dealer came up with something going on in the pass-key system, supposedly they found a loose wire somewhere. Hoping it doesn't happen to do this again....I'll keep you updated!

This short acts like the security system shuts down electiical support to the engine. You have to have it towed in to a dealer. You can not reset it yourself. I would bet that there are some flaky electonics on one of the computers (three on board). This shorts out and acts like someone is trying to steal the car.
