Freestyle SEL 3.2L

  • CVT transmission
  • 24,000 miles

2005 Ford Freestyle. I was driving on the highway at 55 mph when all of a sudden the engine starts dying and starting back up repeatedly. I originally thought there must be water in the gas. It would act up now and then. I would only drive it for short trips until the trans started acting up.

I have not yet had the Throttle Body Sensor replaced - it's been quoted at $400 replacement cost which I don't have & in my experience the final cost is always higher than the quote. However, even the mechanic told me for a throttle body sensor to go out at 42K miles is ridiculous & I should speak to the manufacture/dealer. After all, I only bought it used 5 months ago, of course, neither manufacturer or dealer is willing to take the extra step & show excellent customer service - they're not "required" to. The damn thing went out after AFTER the crappy 3 year, 30K mile warranty. I'm seriously irritated with both Ford & the dealership I purchased this vehicle from & I hope this isn't going to be an ongoing problem that needs to be fixed every few years.
