problem #1

Dec 052007

Freestyle 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 22,000 miles
Pirelli tires on 2006 Ford Freestyle ltd AWD- excessive premature tire wear on inside portion of treads. Only 22,000 miles on vehicle and steel chords are protruding from tire and causing a serious safety issue. Dealer was the exclusive service provider on the vehicle but never indicated any excessive wear until tire warranty had expired. Stated cause was wheel toe or camber being too much. Service department cannot determine whether driving style or factory defect is to blame. However, for a tire rated to wear for approximately 50,000 miles to be worn out in normal driving conditions is unacceptable. Manufacturer claims this is not covered in any warranty. No prorating or compensation to correct the problem was offered.
