problem #2

Fusion

Car was stuck in reverse while in park but my vehicle was still running because it was in reverse. The tow driver said the shift cable deteriorate and then break after a while. I had to wait an hour on a cab and the walk back where my car was to wait on a tow driver. I think is something that should automatically be replaced if it is a problem. I have only had the car for about 2 years it it ridiculous for a customer to have to go through this if they no a part is not made to last.

Fusion SE 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,150 miles

Went to my car to go to work one morning, shifted the gear to put vehicle in drive, put foot on gas & car is in reverse. I put gear shift back in park. Dash indicates car in reverse, gear shift in park. car will not start. Called tow truck, the driver goes under hood, to manually shift the gear to park states the problem is what is called a grommet (piece of plastic has cracked and broken) why a piece of plastic next to a hot engine???? Had car towed to shop were the mechanic informed me you have to replace the cable as well as the grommet. 3 hour job that ended up taking six, and costing me an arm & a leg. I have never been a Ford person and you best believe, this is my first and last Ford. Never again.
