Was driving on open freeway at approximately 7:30pm on 10/17/05 when driver heard loud "pop". shortly afterward, drivers vision was obscured through back window on the Ford Mustang convertible. When driver arrived home he noticed that the rear window was completely shattered and there was no evidence of any object striking the vehicle. Driver took vehicle to Ford dealership for repairs and was told that Ford did not consider it a defective part. When driver notified his insurance carrier, he was informed that their glass installer was aware of the spontaneous rear window explosions occurring in the 2002-2004 model year of Mustangs. Driver is having dealer replace the defective equipment and replaced parts will not be available.
