I found paint chipping off the underside of the hood around the seams between the panels. There were several location where there was clearly oxidation under the paint causing bubbles and chips. I took it to the dealership and they simply sanded down and cleaned the areas with problems and re-painted. Claiming that this should fix the problem.

FOR A THIRD TIME I have found paint bubbling and chipping off on the underside of the hood. In the same exact areas as previously repaired and now even more. It is all around the perimeter of the hood at the seam of the two panels. I took it back to the dealership the "fixed" it for the second time. They were rude and quickly pushed me out the door saying it would not be covered under warranty. I had to call a Customer Care Representative just to get the pictures take at the dealership to be considered for warranty. It is obvious to me that the problem is the same as what was fixed under warranty.....so they should cover it now since they failed to fix it the first time. After two months of arguing with me they finally made an offer: I pay a $100 deductible toward the $250 to sand, clean, and paint the problem areas. I tried to point out that this was not going to fix the problem since it didn't the first 2 times!!! The only obvious solution I see is to replace the hood. They would not consider this at all (besides giving me a quote of $1300 that I would have to pay myself). I told them to take their offer and shove it! I am not going to pay for something that has PROVEN not to work. I would just be back in another year with the same problem.

THERE IS SIGNIFICANT OXIDATION OCCURRING UNDER THE PAINT AROUND THE PREFERABLY OF THE ALUMINUM HOOD. THE PAINT IS STARTING TO CHIP ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE HOOD, WORKING IT'S WAY FORWARD AND BECOMING MORE VISIBLE. THE PAINT IS LIFTING OFF THE METAL. THE CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF. WASHED TWICE A WEEK, WEATHER PERMITTING. USUALLY NEVER DIRTY IN THE SUMMER. THIS OXIDATION SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO A 3.5 YEAR OLD CAR.
