2005 MUSTANG is by far the worst vehicle I have ever purchased. This vehicle is loaded with problems that I have seen other people complaining about. The very same problems. Ford should take care of these since is a common issue. The longer its delay ford should be fined and made to take all these cars back.

My car looks like $h!t because of hood corrosion all along the lip of the hood, bubbling at the top and corrosion under the hood. My car is black & it looks my car has herpes!!! Ford new about this in 04' and there's nothing that can be done about it except buy an after market hood. So damn frustrating!!

The hood of my 2005 Mustang began to show rust on the underside at the front seams. The dealership said the vehicle was out of warranty for this problem. I had to pay out of pocket the get the work done. Then in 2015 the rust reappeared in the same area and along side the seam on the driver side. The dealership response was there is no warranty on rust repair and I would have to pay for the repair again. This is a known issue for Ford Mustangs and I am truly ticked.

It started with a bubble under paint and it peeled off leaving a spot that grew bigger and bigger. If not taken care of it would have rotted out. It is starting to do it in other places as well. I sanded down and repainted the hood.

The edge of the hood has rust and bubbling under paint and the paint is chipping off. I checked with a body shop about repairing it and they advised that a new hood has to be ordered. The reason is if they sand down the rust and re-paint the effected area, it will most likely rust in other areas because the metal used is faulty. The cost to replace hood (and this is an after market hood) is $1600! I see there is a lawsuit about this exact problem between other Ford owners and Ford. I do not think it has been resolved yet.

When reporting problem while car was under warranty I was told that ford would only cover rust to body panels if there was a hole in the body panel. I explained this is not rust as the hood is aluminum but was told there was nothing that could be done to help me.

Very unhappy with the manufacturer not standing behind their product that I spent my hard earned dollars on when purchased new. Everywhere I look I see 05-09 mustangs and various models of ford trucks from this same vintage with large chunks of missing paint on the hood, this is clearly a manufacturing issue that ford issued a TSB on but won't replace the hood at their charge. I was told from a local body shop that there is no point in repairing as problem will re-occur, best fix would be to replace the hood but still no guarantee issue won't reoccur since the replacement parts will only be as good as they have been prepped from Ford. Cost for repair was quoted between 1500-2000 usd., with no guarantee is tough to justify.

Was thinking of a new F150 but after hearing its body panels are aluminum I would have to have my head examined to spend 60,000 on a truck that will likely have the same issue on all panels not just the hood. I would strongly advise others in the market for a new vehicle to do some research and to proceed with caution before purchasing a Ford that contains aluminum body panels.

I am a bonafide Ford guy have owned many mustangs and other ford products, I Love most things Ford but am at a loss if I will continue to support a company that won't support loyalist and stand behind their products.

COME ON FORD DO THE RIGHT THING, bring these eye sores with your logo on them in for a repair and restore them to their original beauty so their owners can be proud to dive them and support your company by rewarding you with our business in the future.

I noticed when I first bought the car, 9/26/12, from the Ford Dealer, that there was corrosion on the hood and that it was painted over. Since then the paint has been fleeking off of the hood and I have to constantly touch it up. I understand that there is a Class Action Lawsuit filed against Ford for this know problem with their aluminum hoods for the year Mustang that I have. I would like to have the problem rectified before my hoods rusts through the metal.

What is annoying, that the bubbles on the hood keep on coming back, even after you get them fixed because the problem is the contaminated aluminum hood. Ford knows the problem for a long time and should really inform owners how to fix it and take over at least a part of the costs.

My paint on 2005 Mustang GT started to bubble under and over the hood. It’s getting worse and now the paint is peeling and chipping off on the top of the hood especially around the front lip. It looks awful! It’s definitely caused by poor paint job the aluminum hood at the factory.

What is Ford doing about this issue?

oxidation under paint oxidation under paint

I recently purchased a 2005 Ford Mustang with less than 18,000 miles on it. A few days after bringing it home I found paint bubbles along the seams on the bottom of the hood, the more I looked at it the more bubbles I found. I did a quick search on the internet and found that this is a common problem for Mustangs and many other Fords with aluminum hoods.

On January 25th 2004 Ford issued a TSB for aluminum body panel corrosion that states "Testing has revealed that the aluminum corrosion was caused by iron particles working their way into the aluminum body part, prior to it being painted."

I have read forum posts from people who have 2010 and 2011 Fords with corrosion on their aluminum hoods. Ford knew about the problem back in 2004 and admitted that it was a fault in their manufacturing process. Why have they continued to manufacture vehicles with the same flaw?

I have not taken my Mustang to a Ford dealership and I do not plan too. Sanding and respraying the hood will only cover up the issue for a year or two. I plan to replace my aluminum Ford hood with an aftermarket carbon fiber hood.

Bought the car less then a year ago. After I got it home I noticed that some of the paint on the hood was bubbled. Looks like the hood is rusting from under the paint. No chips or scratches. Just bad product from Ford. Dealer wanted $1100 just for a new hood plus paint and install.

Will be going aftermarket when the damage gets bad enough.

Found the same problem I had fixed 13 months earlier.....only worse. Paint bubbling and flaking off on the underside of the hood due to oxidation under the paint. In fact, the same exact areas had the problem. Plus more areas. Again, it was all along the seam between the panels. Unfortunately, the dealership that performed the work the first time had gone out of business so I had to take it to another dealership. They, of course, did the same thing....sanded, washed, and repainted. The car has never seen salt! In the garage most of the time. And not driven much (as you can see from the mileage)! This dealership blamed the first dealership of doing a poor job and ensured me that they have cleaned out any contaminates and the problem is solved. But it was not!!!!
