Mustang Coupe 3.7L V6

  • Manual transmission
  • 150,000 miles

I am stuck at work w/ a plugged up fuel filter on my 2014 Mustang that won't run. I have performed all the required service that is shown on the Ford scheduled maintenance for my vehicle (as shown in the owners manual). The Ford scheduled maintenance doesn't show that the fuel filter should ever be replaced. After researching the issue today, I find that there is a filter in the system & apparently Ford thinks it will last the lifetime of the vehicle. Auto parts stores sell this external fuel filter that Ford doesn't think ever needs to be replaced.

I have seen this type of issue before when I worked at another auto company. The auto companies are extending service intervals, and eliminating many normal service items on the maintenance schedule in an attempt to lower the cost of ownership as calculated by JD Power & other similar companies. Ford has window dressed the real cost of maintenance by eliminating the fuel filter service on my vehicle, and this has left me without transportation today. This is monkey business and total BS.
