Ranger XLT 4.0L

My 2001 ranger xlt won't shift into reverse, sometimes it works fine. Was wondering if anyone else had this happen to them, and what's causing it?

Ranger XLT 3.2L V6

Don't know what the heck is wrong, so I don't know where to take it to be fixed. Also when it happened the ABS and brake light were on but now they're off. Fluid levels are all full. Hope some can help out
