problem #2

Ranger 4-cyl

  • 117,000 miles
I was driving on a straight road. The front wheel on drivers side fell off causing the truck to roll going airborne and landing upside down in a creek down a 20 ft embankment. The airbag was recalled and replaced at a local Ford dealer. The airbag did not deploy. Last thing I remember was gently tapping my brake.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Ranger extended cab XLT. The contact was driving 45 mph when the front passenger side tire detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a private mechanic where the mechanic confirmed that a nut had detached from the wheel. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileages were 3,000. Updated 03/16/12 the consumer stated as he was driving, the steering wheel suddenly jerked itself out of his hands and pulled to the right. The consumer ended up in a muddy ditch where he slid to a stop against a fence and some small trees. The consumer stated there was no cotter pin that safe tied the nut that held the wheel on the spindle. Updated 04/20/12
