The tread on a cooper life liner classic II tire #P20565R15 separated and flew apart from a '95 Ford Taurus while the vehicle was being driven by the owner's daughter at 55 mph on an interstate highway. A new set of four of these tires were installed on the vehicle on Oct 12, 1999 at 37,182 miles. The mileage of the vehicle at the time of the incident was approximately 74,850 miles. The tires were rated for 60,000 miles and had been rotated on a regular basis. Body damage occurred to the vehicle around the wheel well and the driver's side mirror was cracked. The estimated damage is $550. Fortunately no injuries or property damage to other vehicles occurred. The driver did not lose control of the vehicle. The tire was hurled into the fast lane and missed hitting another vehicle. The tires were inspected a few days prior to the incident by the owner's daughter and no problems or excessive wear were visually noticeable.

On 10.12.2000, while driving on the H-1 viaduct to enter the main freeway, the vehicle I was driving began to pull strongly to the left. I gained control of the vehicle and then heard a noise which sound like there was a bubble in a tire. I proceeded on to try and reach a service station, when within a half mile or so, the right front tire on the vehicle blew out. The sound of the blowout was extremely loud and controlling the vehicle became difficult. The impact of the blowout was significant enough to stun me momentarily. When I gained control, I proceded to the side of the road where I contacted aaa and noted that there was considerable damage to the vehicles right front and side panel. My attempts to resolve this through Michelin was to no avail, they refuse to admit liability. I have the reports submitted to them, pictures of the tire and vehicle damage and the tire itself available for inspection. All tire "experts" here in honolulu are astonished by the damage to the tire and none believe that it was a result of my running over an object. Any assistance your office could provide would be appreciated. I consider the tires unsafe and am appalled that Michelin will take no responsibility for such a safety hazard. The amount of damage and replacement tires has been provided. Thank you and feel free to contact me anytime (H) 808-836-6826 or (C)808-754-3070. (tiresize: 205/65R15)

Original equipment tire. Tires rotated every 7500 miles and inflated to manufacturers recommened pressure of 35 psi. We were traveling from mi to AZ. On I-40, near joseph city AZ, after traveling at posted speed of 75 mph, we stopped for coffee and I checked the tires as I do at each stop. I noticed that there was complete tread separation of left rear tire which at previoous inspection about 100 miles earlier was fine.. th (dot number: A3ur438424 tiresize: 20565R15)

Steel belt breakage. Caused bumpy ride and pull to right. My concern is that when I contacted Michelin, they attitude was that their tires fail when the warranty expires. The tires have been cared for using Ford requirements. The first tire to fail was in Aug. 1999 and a local Ford dealer helped with michrlin. At that time the car was under warranty. This time, two front tires failed at the same time. I have been told that Michelin has stopped making this model tire. I wonder why. The tires have almost a quarter inch of tread left and are not worn funny. Seems like junk tires to me. I replaced the Michelin tires with cooper tires, which have never failed me. Please check into Michelin and perhaps auto manufacturers who use their products, which have a fixed life. Thank you.( dot number: M3pa998X29 tire size: P205X65R15 )
