The contact owns a 1999 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that after having the vehicle in for routine service, the mechanic advised him that the sub frame was severely rusted. The manufacturer was then contacted and they advised him that he would need to replace the component because it could cause the driver to loose control of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000. Updated 06/01/11 updated 1/18/2012 the consumer reviewed options and replaced with suitable non rusted subframes.*

The frame under the front of my car has rotted away due to road salt. I see Ford has a recall on older models for the same problem. Loss of steering occurred when the frame let go.

The consumer replaced the transmission three times. The vehicle could not be registered since it will not pass emission. (11/29/05) the frame was twisted and the torque converter failed. There was also a hit and run accident. On another occasion a tire had blown out. The consumer was denied reimbursement for the tfi module replacements.
