Taurus

  • Automatic transmission
  • 183,000 miles

Every time I start from a stop the car will leap forward, sometimes sounding/acting as if it's going to stall. I don't like to drive it during the hot summer months seeing as it gets worse during that time.

Taurus SE 6.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 140,000 miles

This car is a piece of sh*t! I've always been a Chevy girl and now I know why!!! The day I bought this car I was actually excited-it seemed nice. The a/c froze me out on the way home. Parked it, got up next morning to go to work and it wouldn't start. 2 hrs later-late to work-thankfully my neighbor a mechanic came over to help. It was battery terminal issue. Got car started, headed to work-no ac. Worked again ONCE (came on by itself) WHEN IT WAS COLD AND RAINING-HEATER COMES ON WHEN IT WANTS TO RANDOMLY BUT A/C HASNT AGAIN. Several mechanics have looked at it-tested ut etc. no one can find a problem and I'll be damned if I pay Ford a F-n penny to look at or fix it. Battery terminal & cable issues off and on for 6 months...finally bought new battery- stil had a few problems every now and then but not as much. Check engine light came on next-auto zone says transmission problem. Trunk now opens by itself randomly while driving. Dome light never goes off (Now I know why there wasn't one in there when I bought the car! Hesitating, coughing, gasping for air and dying at red lights etc. Not exhast leak like I thought-who knows what it is...BASICALLY I THINK THE ENTIRE CARS IS AN ELECTRICAL NIGHTMARE AND ALL MY ISSUES SOMHOW ARE RELATED TO THAT. Stalls, pops out of gear or dies in the middle of the highway. Oh forgot, add engine coolant light been on since day I bought it and no matter how full you fill it it never goes off. Latest issue, add colant light off and now O/D off flashes up and battery light. Service engine soon light remains on...power steering went out and brakes as well. Fill with fluid they both work it runs out asap-repeat steps 1 and 2. I am fixing to go to the store and buy a shorter belt and bypass the power steering since I have already spent 200 and a week and a half on this issue and am done. Told my hudband we should have done that in the first place!!! I cant wait until I can afford another car. I intend to take a sledge hammer, my gun, and dynamite to this MF and release 2 years worth of frustration, and wasted money not to mention labor. I feel like I am forgetting something and I am sure I am. I wouldn't run over my worst enemy with this car for fear that they would become jinxed as well. NOTE TO SELF...NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD AND IF YOU CANT AFFORD ANYTHING ELSE-WALK UNTIL YOU SAVE ENOUGH MONEY-YOU'RE GONNA BE WALKING ANYWAY. Found On Road Dead thats what FORD stands for!!! Who was that A-hole who told me it was First On Race Day? I'd like to go kick his ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Taurus LX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 99,000 miles

My friend purchased a 1999 Ford Taurus right off the lot of a used car dealer and as soon as she got to was headed down the road, the transmission started making noise and the car would freeze on the road for a few seconds. We went to a mechanic and the Ford dealer. Ford charged $3000, and the mechanic charged $1200. So we got it fixed at the mechanic. Because the car wasn't under warranty and we already signed the papers, we could not return the car. Instead, we got the payments decreased.

Even though we ended up getting the car fixed at the mechanic, a few months down the road, the problem begins to occur again. Ford sucks, my friends is going Japanese after that incident.

Taurus LX 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,000 miles

I bought this as a used car from carmax and it didn't start doing this until it was to late to do anything about it. If I start in regular drive and shift into overdrive after I start going it seems to work OK ! but it is a pain in the butt. I think it has something with the trans running too hot as it doesn't start right away, only after I have gone for awhile. Wish someone could come up with a way to fix it.

Taurus ES 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 94,000 miles

This Ford taurus only had 94,000 miles on it when the transmission started acting up. It would get stuck in gear and the rpm's would be nearly in the red before it would shift again if it decided to shift at all. If it didn't shift then you just had to drive super slow in a really low gear. The car is just sitting until we can find the extra money to fix it because I'm sure that Ford is going to charge an arm and a leg to fix it like last time.

Taurus GL 3.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

I had a 1998-99 Ford Taurus Station wagon and I had problems with transmission it would jerk when slowing down and jerk from 1st to 2nd gear when taking off. The transmission was replaced 2 times before the transmission shop told me that I needed a transmission cooler. What that is is a radiator type of thing that attaches on the transmission and the fluid runs through it and cools the fluid. Good Luck I got rid of that thing while the getting was getting ok.

First the darn engine light comes on. I had the car not quite one year.. I kept all the maintainance done on this car from routine oil changes. I had the valve sensor replaced on this car. Then without any warning when I'm driving the gears aren't

shifting right. When I come to a complete stop at a traffic light. It feel like the transmission is giving a hard jerk.. Now I can't drive far because it gets stuck in gear.. Now I find out there has been so many problems with the Taurus from 1996 to 2001. Buy American Made cars...... Right
