I own a 2002 Ford Taurus ses sedan with 100,000 miles. Recently, the brake warning light illuminated, and I brought it into the Ford service department of my local dealership. Apparently what happened was a ABS/traction control sensor (part number 2C219) burned out. According to the dealership and various online postings in blogs and other areas, this is a very common thing that happens on these cars. I think that Ford should take action because they do acknowledge that there is a problem with the design of that module, and their poor design can lead to limited braking capability, the vehicle not performing as it should on slippery surfaces, crashes, injuries, and possibly even death.
