2002 Ford Taurus. Loss of brakes due to malfunction in ABS system. Removed fuse to the ABS system and the brakes returned. Daughter was on way home from work and went through a red traffic light because there was no brakes at all. Good thing late at night and no one to be hit. Ford continues to say not a recall problem.

The contact stated the brakes have not operated properly since purchase. The vehicle will not slow down when the brake pedal is depressed. She must pump the pedal repeatedly, but this does not always work. The rotors and pads have been replaced by the dealership. The dealership was unable to diagnose the cause of the problem. The vehicle has been to an independent repair shop, and they too were unable to diagnose the cause of the problem. Also, the contact detected fumes coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken to the same repair shop, and they determined the radiator overflow tank had a crack on the bottom. No repairs have been made.

My daughter was pulling into a parking space, she applied the brakes, the car lunged ahead and hit the building. The passenger air bag deployed and not the drivers air bag. She had her seat belt on and hit the steering wheel. I talked to Ford and they siad to go through my insurance company.
