problem #1

Dec 032015

Taurus Limited 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 96,000 miles

I was stopped and on the brakes, getting ready to pull out of a parking lot into traffic when all of the sudden my car revved up a lot, to the point where I thought it was going to blow up. When it started revving up the car surged forward trying to shoot my husband and me into traffic! I had to STOMP and LAY on the brakes with BOTH FEET as I shifted it into park to finally get it to stop. It was very scary as it was a busy intersection and my car felt like it was fighting me, trying to get out into traffic while I was standing on the brake pedal. As soon as I got it back to normal I immediately drove to the nearest car service station. They started it, drove it, and said it didn't happen so there's no way of them knowing what the problem is exactly. They told me the car has a small electric box so even hooking it up to something wouldn't help (?). The car was bought used almost 2 years ago from Twin City Toyota in Herculaneum, MO. When it was purchased it had about 85,000 miles on it. Yesterday was the first time it did this. I'm scared to even drive it now. I searched the internet and found that other people were having similar problems with their Ford Taurus also. My husband did call Ford and, of course, they claim that was the first and only time they heard of that happening. This is very frustrating. I'm asking for help from anyone and everyone to guide me in how to find out what this is and how to fix it. This is the car I was getting ready to teach my son how to drive with, but not anymore.
