Windstar 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 78,000 miles
I asked the seller at Ford to completely service the van before I would buy it. He said his mechanic would. I checked the van out two weeks later, low on oil, no brake fluid, trans fluid very low, no water hardly at all in receiver, then the starter went out, replaced it no good, replaced switch, no good, brakes gone out, can't keep fluid in systems, engine light came on, emission problems, mechanic stalls for the hour amount, and still can't fix/test II code. Inside lights dim when extra. Lights come on. It's a [xxx] piece of junk and they sold us a lemon. I paid over $4,000 cash for it, and all they wanted to so was sell it for money. What can I do" it has 72,000 etc mile and now has 82,000. We are both disabled with two kids. We have been screwed. I can get the Ford info on the Ford Windstar 95 3.8 it rattles, water runs out of the exhaust pipe and the converter. I want to sue them, I called them and they said the hell with you, you bought it as it was. Ford products are the worst auto's on the market. We want revenge and all our money back now. [xxx]. what is next a head gasket" I heard that cost over $1,600 to fix. And there are alot of them going out. Ford needs to stand behind it's products or get out of the business. I have had my kids tossed to the dash when I step on the brakes before we even get out of our drive way. We wear seatbelts, I wouldn't dare ride in it. It is a death trap to me. Head gasket went out along with the starter & believed to be water pump also went out..all with in 2 days....no notice at all engine light came on when gasket blew.covered with a lot of smoke which filled my whole backyard.I turmed the van off and it would not start...I contacted paydays South where I purchased the van when they directed me to ricart Ford in columbus, Ohio.they had believed it was still covered under factory warranty.I spoke with a kevin daniels at ricart who was very nice and is going to set up a appt for us....also when we replaced the starter..we attempted to start the van and it made two very loud clanking noises.which left me very concerned about the damages done to the engine.

Ford is aware of defective trasmissions in '95 Windstar. Car lurches forward after not accelerating from a stop position, could cause accident if another car were in front, slipping transmission at 50,000 is unconscionable. Dealer checked and said I would have to have a new transmission installed at $2,400. Check online under "Ford Windstar automatic transmission problems" there are thousands of cusotmers with transmissions and head gaskets blowing at very low milage. Is there a class action suit regarding this defect? apparently, Ford is aware of the problem but won't do a recall because it's too expensive. I am single mom with 3 children whom I must drive to and from school every day and I am very concerned about our safety. Please help me! according to other owners, after their transmissions began to slip, it was only weeks before the whole thing blew. I do not have the money to buy a new transmission. Ford should do something. Strater faile at 55,955 miles. The vehicle would not start numerous times. ABS light stays on due to master cylinder failure. Loud noise in front suspension due to struts failure. Brakes make grinding noise. Serpentine belt failed. Temprature guage running hot because of temprature sensor failure. The consumer states that the vehicle is a lemon and should be recalled.
