Ford has a terrible cupholder in the console area/dashboard area. It is not built into the interior as one one hope, rather it is a pull-out type with a plastic bottom that broke when a coffee cup was placed in it. I thought I could repair myself, so I went to the dealer to buy another one. Well, I soon learned that 1) I had to buy the whole pullout unit (I didn't need the pullout mechanism) and 2) I needed to remove the dashboard to remove it and install the new one. The part cost about $80 or more. So I asked about getting the installation done and was quoted a price in the hundreds of dollars because of the labor charges for removing the dashboard and making the switch. Talk about a real rip-off!! I said forget it! I bought a portable cup holder unit and placed in on the floor between the seats for less than $5.00. I am sick of these car dealers costing us a hole in our paycheck to replace the simplest of things when the problem could have been avoided by omitting that sorry type of cupholder in the first place! I'll be watching for this with my next car and it won't be a Ford!!
