TL- the contact owns a 2000 Ford Windstar. While the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed that the vehicle had caught on fire from the coal heater under the driver side seat. The contact continued to see smoke, which caused her to disconnect the battery. The dealer had been contacted, but offered no assistance. The manufacturer had been contacted, who stated that they would repair the damages if they were related to a recall. The contact was not sure what the diagnosis was. No repairs had been made at this time. The current and failure mileage was 139,000.

Transmission will downshift very roughly, driver gets thrown forward. Dealer cannot find cause. The transmission was down shifting with a terrible jolt at low speed. The vehicle was difficult to start when cold and damp, also when the ignition was switched off and then back to start the engine fires and runs. The vehicle stalling was determined to be fuel pump failure. The gas mileage dropped from 23 mpg to 16 mpg and the vehicle burns more oil. The lights flicker when driving at night and A/C is on, also the vehicle shakes while idling with the A/C on. The driver"S seat cut and slashed the consumer?S clothing. There was a weak green light from the battery. Vehicle vibrates at high speed. The driver"S door was difficult to shut.

The anchor point on the second row captain chairs are in the lowr left hand corner of the seat. In the operator manual they are shown as being in the center of the seat. We contacted the dealer, who spoke the factory. They said the manual was a misprint and the seats were desinged that way with the anchor point being on the lower left. All the other seats have the anchor points in the center of the back of the seat. With anchor point being offest it cuase the strap to run on a diagnal from top back to the lower left hand corner, as you are looking at the back of the seat. I have not seen any other vehicles, where the anchor point is off centered. Please recall this van and make Ford fix the problem before a child is hurt. Thank you.
