problem #3

Windstar LX 3.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 72,000 miles

Car kept feeling like it was going to stall but never did....check engine light would flash sometimes and then stay on other times. felt worse in wet weather and had a hard time getting past 40mph!

Took it to Ford to have it taken a look at......was diagnosed needing intake gaskets, ignition wires, spark plugs and ignition coil. (also needed new brake pads) Ford wanted $1400 to fix....so we took it to a local shop and paid a little over $500!

Its been 3 days now since the work has been done and the car now works great!

I would recommend going to Ford to pay $100 to find out whats wrong with the car and then taking it somewhere cheaper!!

engine skip on acceleration, it will buck and fart into the air intake when you hit the accelerater hard while driving. In park when you touch the accelerater I hear a loud air leak only for a second or 2 , this sound comes from the back side of the motor so I can't see the problem. While driving normal the engine surges like the air conditioner is going on and off
