Acadia 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission

The car has too many problems when it was sold to me but the dealer told me, it only needed new timing chain. But unfortunately that wasn’t the case. It kept getting fixed, one problem after another but the car keeps shutting off. The worst experience ever. The car wasn’t supposed to be sold the way it was.

Went to dealership in January to get a recall done. Had issue with passenger seat motor and scheduled appointment for 12 noon. At 2:30 pm I still did not see my car. When asked about it (since I was waiting) they pulled it in to the garage with viewing window. The recall was for the back hatch. I saw my hood opened and started feeling concerned. There was a billboard in the waiting room stating they were looking for 2010 Acadia to buy. I started feeling nervous. By the time I got my car back I felt violated. I demanded them to give me my car back- now 3:20 pm. I informed the dealership manager my concerns and they removed the 30 dollar fee for testing the seat motor. With in 1 week after leaving the dealership, the stabilizer light went on and then the all wheel drive light went on. With in the 2 months now the engine went up. Go figure. This week I get mail from the dealership offering 7,500 trade in value for this car. Just can not trust this dealership nor GMC anymore.

Bought the car on October 23, 2018 and not even 1 month later engine failed on November 19, car just down while I was driving on the expressway. Had to put emergency blinkers on and coast to emergency lane. Traffic backup caused by this and was scared that someone would hit me from behind.

The engine was perfectly fine after an oil change. Drove it about a week later and still no problems. On the day of my trip while driving on the highway going about 60 mph, I hear a knocking sound, the engine stops and all steering and controls shut off. The engine comes to a halt and brakes hardened up. Had to push the vehicle off the highway and opened up the hood and let her cool off. I tried to start it and no crank. Towed back to the city and towed it to an auto shop and diagnose says need new engine. Just wow... engine just totally failed on me. I'm still in shock from the incident. Just in awe. Such a strong engine and decent miles still. But the engine just didn't last as long as I wanted.

Acadia SLT 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,223 miles

Vehicle idling in parking lot waiting to pull into a space, rpm's dipped a couple of times, engine started shaking, then the engine stopped, all within 10 seconds. Unable to restart, wouldn't turn over with a jump start, no response whatever. A local mechanic confirmed the engine was seized and suggested to bring it to our GMC dealer. Called them, explained the problem and diagnosis, and received the advice it probably needed a new engine which would cost about $7500 installed and warrantied. Vehicle is in excellent condition with regular maintenance performed and was a pleasure to drive. It did have many recalls which were performed by the dealer within warranty. Unsure what to do next.

I was told that the oil was over due for an oil change, and was two quarts over filled. This car has been regulary serviced by a gm dealer the whole time. I keep all my paperwork. I was also told the catalytic converters were shot, now told they might not be. I am sure that this is a cover up of some sort. Never had any warning lights just a sound and then lost all power

Where to start ? Bought 2010 GMC Acadia 6/2012 from a dealer and from the start received recall notices that didn't stop and still hasn't yet. Power steering assist pump went up, finally found out covered under extended warranty BUT was told about a mysterious seal that was leaking on steering column and needed to be replaced at a cost of $2,400 .When I asked about why there were no spots or leaks on driveway answer was "its probably going into the boot"? How big is the boot? When does the boot get full? WHY have I never had to add fluid for said leak? All unanswered questions! left dealership with steering fixed but confused why they wanted me to pay $2,400 for something that didn't seem to be broke (offset cost of power assist pump? just a question of many) Now in 12/2015 motor begins a tapping one morning and back to dealer, after diagnosis the motor was "done" and price was $8,000 to replace! Asked what happened that a car with only 113,847mls needs new motor, was told "it just happens" When I complained about justification of said amount wouldn't you know they came back with an adjusted cost of $5,700 which I still didn't feel satisfied! This message is for others to view and take into consideration for many problems GM has had with the GMC Acadia! Cant say I will not buy another GM product BUT will look at others before I make my next purchase... and it will never be a GMC !!! GMC=GottaMechanicComing !!!

The day I tried to drive it home the motor blew up. Then the dealer put a new motor in my SUV, now when the motor gets hot it will stop and not run. I have taken it in 4 times for the same thing. They put a new starter in. The day I picked it up they told me they could not find a thing wrong but as I pulled out it did it again and would not start? They sent it back! they told me it was going to cost me $500 to fix my car!? Hell, they have more miles on my car then I do!? I was mad as hell. I called the manager of the service center and he told me they where going to pick up the bill!

All in all they every one I have worked with are good people and have taken good care of me, But it is a bad time for my wife and I we are both disabled me from the U.S. Army and my wife from working to hard as a waitress and 4 boys, now 3. I never in my life would think we would have to lay our son down before us, he was 28 years old.

This car took all our money we had to our name but I wanted my wife to have a good running, and safe SUV. for her drive, and I will drive what I can. I just want my wife's car to run right, and be safe. I do not think this is to much to ask. Soldier 53.
