Acadia Denali 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 52,000 miles

Service advisor told me it could be the module even before test was ever made. The after they opened my car they said the wire was fried and has to be ordered. While waiting for the part to arrive I searched and found that GM issued Service Bulletin No. 16-NA-178 on June 2016 regarding this issue. I believe the technician just decided to replace the modules since it is a high priced item thus helping the dealership be more profitable. I do not believe that 2 modules will go bad at the same time, it is statistically not probable.

Acadia SLT 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,318 miles

Within the first 30,000kms my right side detection system went in my New GMC Acadia. Standard Warranty covered and fixed the problem. Around 42,000kms the left side went...within about 5000 kms after that it went again. All three times drained my battery which meant a jump start from tow company in town. Now...at less than 70,000 kms...just off manufacture warranty the right side detection system has gone again.

This would be the third time I've had vehicle in for replacement of either side.

GMC dealer here in Quesnel BC has said that warranty will not cover it anymore and it will cost me approx. $1200 Canadian to fix the issue. They first argued with me about it ever being replaced in the first place, thankfully I kept all receipts and could prove it had...although, that got me no where with them. It's not necessary to fix it...however, it's now draining my battery again.

I am beyond frustrated, haven't gotten an answer from GMC on if they will help me or not. If I knew that replacing it again...for the third time would actually fix the problem...1200 dollars I could swallow, however....there is no guarantee and with the track record of having to replace it on avg every year...who would spend 1200 approx. every year to fix this?? There should be a recall or something on this issue.

I feel completely helpless with the situation, can't afford to replace this system every year....and am considering trading in at a different dealership before it ends up costing me a ton of money.
