problem #2

Feb 232013

Canyon SLE 3.7L V5

  • Automatic transmission
  • 82,410 miles

You may see two complaints on the same day for the same reason but the issue did in fact occur twice today. Within minutes of each other.

See my other complaint for my gripe, rant, yell.

problem #1

Feb 232013

Canyon SLE 3.7L V5

  • Automatic transmission
  • 82,410 miles

The truck will stutter at low idle >1000RPMs and when making low idle stops or low idle turns, the truck will stall completely resulting in loss of power steering and brake control i.e. hitting the brakes equals the force of slamming on the brakes.

Even at low idle, there is slight loss of power steering requiring more force to make any turns or slight adjustments.

Despite changing the spark plugs and camshaft position actuator solenoid valve (reported to be an issue), the problem still occurs.

Though only slightly embarassing at red lights/stop signs, the truck will now stall while attempting to make turns into traffic which is dangerous to other drivers and myself.

If GM does not find the issue and a absolute resolution, this truck is gone (in the safest way possible) and I'm not buying another GM product.

Just to reinforce that, my Dad is a former GM assembly line worker and my loyalty is with his brand. However, building a product which has reported failures with no recalls and GM dealer service shops unaware of any issues, I will find myself buying a Toyota truck and with the support of my Dad.
