caught fire

4/30/18. To this day, not a single issue. No mechanical work on this 2015 GMC Canyon during my ownership since I bought it 10/17 w/ 38K miles on it. I leave work. Im doing about 30mph on Hwy18 Westbound about to merge onto I5 South. I see smoke coming from behind the cab. Thick white smoke. I immediately pull over and call 911; I'm a little panicked, a little in disbelief, and a little hopeful that the smoke is going to simmer and I can get the truck looked at. While giving an explanation and location to dispatch the smoke is slowly but steadily billowing thicker. I'm racking my mind as to why smoke would be coming from between the cab and bed of the truck. Exhaust pipe? Fuel lines? Transmission? Nothing really adds up. The smoke turns to flames. The fire dept shows and begins fighting the flames. After a considerable amount of time of fighting the fire and the gasoline that continues to pool below the truck, the flames to turn to a smoky steam. More time passes and I tell myself it's safe to approach. The truck is gone. My mind is racking with how unexpected this all was. Truck only had 47k.
