The ac blower resister overheated and melted. This is the second time in 3 years this has happen. The fan control usually goes out on all speeds followed by a strong smell of electrical wire burning. A online forum at trailvoy. Com has numerous threads of people complaining about this sane issue on their vehicle. One thread has 71 pages and is still growing (forums.trailvoy.com/showthread.php?T=32751). This is a fire hazard!

The problem with my 2006 GMC Envoy is everytime I turn the ac/heater on there is a foul odor emitting from the vents for approximately two to three minutes. I contacted GMC they state that the problem is occurring because I live in a high humidity area of the country and that a dryer needed to be added to the vehicle for 800 dollars and they could only offer to take half of the price. I stated to the representative that this is not on the vehicle that I broke that this problems seems to have developed somewhere in the design and development of the vehicle why should I have to take on the responsibility of repairing it when I purchased the vehicle brand new.
