The contact owns a 2006 GMC Envoy XL. The contact stated that the front driver's side door switch failed. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15V599000 (visibility). The vehicle was taken to city Buick GMC (43-60 northern blvd, long island city, NY 11101 at (347) 670-4210) and repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the frontal driver's side door switch was inoperable. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact took the vehicle to another independent mechanic for a second opinion where it was diagnosed that the module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 161,000.
