Jimmy 4WD

The vehicle is 5 years old, and the brake pedal just recently started going to the floor when pressed. Initially they hold for about 1 second, and then go to the floor. The truck has 48,600 miles on it and the front brakes have been repaired twice already, both times the brake pads were replaced and the rotors were turned.

problem #7

My S. Jimmy required new front brakes at approx. 18,000 miles which my warranty covered. Know I find out at 35,567 miles I had to replace my front brakes again due to the ABS braking system that wears the brakes down to replacement status, after approx. 18,000 miles. I questioned the dealership as to what was happening. The service advisor informed me that all S-Jimmy's for 1995 to current has the same problem. A defect with the ABS system is causing total front brake replacement on all these vehicles. I do not consider paying for new front brakes every 18,000 miles normal maintenance. GM should reimburse me the $177.71 and come up with a recall to fix this defect.

problem #6

Jan 261999

Jimmy 4WD

  • miles
Front right brakes began to squeak, within 5 days took vehicle to franchise brake repair shop (Firestone) and then to GMC dealer for brake service/inspection. Result: Premature wear of passenger-side brake pads/gouged rotor beyond repair. Driver-side rotor damaged but serviceable. Additionally, Firestone's opinion is passenger-side calipers may be damaged, and that both rotors should be replaced.
