Yukon SLT 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 251,500 miles

I purchased my Yukon in April 2017 with 251,000 miles. Within about 2 weeks, I noticed problems with the moon roof switch. I'd opened the moon roof fully, drove to work, tried shutting the moon roof and nothing happened. My dad came to my work to look at it because a storm was rolling in, and I didn't want the inside of my truck getting soaked. What he did was bang on the roof of my truck from the inside, pretty much right above the 2nd row seats (he said that's generally where the motor for the moon roof is). So he banged on the roof from the inside while pressing the close/forward button on the moon roof. As soon as he started banging the roof, the moon roof closed. It works perfectly fine when opening the moon roof, never had issues there, but trying to close it, it randomly works. Sometimes if I'm hitting the close button while hitting bumps in the road, it will start working. I'm just wondering, could it just be a loose wire maybe? Or could it be the actual motor itself? Sorry if this question sounds stupid, I've just never had a vehicle with a moon roof/sun roof, and I'd really like to get the issue solved.
